Senior Portraits & Sessions - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When should I have my senior portraits taken?

Honestly, anytime you want. Some like to take them the Spring they are a junior, or that summer. Other’s take them during their actual senior year sometime. We would encourage you to think about the weather, how that affects you, and also how that makes the environment look for photos. For example, If you want a shoot outdoors in the woods, and it is winter, things will be brown and dreary during that time.

Are your prices too high?

To be honest, my prices are quite competitive. Let me explain some. Some photographers may have cheaper sessions, but you will get no photos without purchasing the digital files or prints that include the digital files. On top of that, many have a minimum amount of product you have to purchase. If you notice my packages include digital files that are touched up and high resolution, and you get a print release with them. In other words, my prices are straight forward, zero hidden costs… in other words, no gimmicks!

Can I print my own photos from my files?

YES, you can. However, if you want professional quality prints with the correct colors and such, we highly recommend you purchase from us!

How do I choose a location for my senior portraits?

Together we will work out the location. It’s all about the look and feel you are going after. That could be in the outdoors, around some greenery and trees, in a beautiful garden, or something more urban like downtown Houston. There are options for finding a variety of these as well. Some locations are a premium because they require permits for professional photography to be shot there. This cost will be covered by the client if this location is to be used.

Can I bring a parent or a friend to my shoot?

YES! I encourage you to bring a parent or a friend so you feel more relaxed and have fun. If you are under 18, I will require you bring someone also. They should be warned that they may end up helping you with outfit changes, hair/makeup, or helping us with lighting and gear.

How long does a session last?

That could be anywhere from a half hour to two hours. The most common session is about an hour. We move quickly so that includes a LOT of photos!

How many outfit changes should I bring?

Typically, 2-3 outfits is a good number to shoot for. Make sure to wear clothes that you feel comfortable in and feel like yourself. That will help us take better photos for sure. Don’t forget accessories, like jewelry, different shoes, glasses, lettermans, etc.

When is the best time for a session?

If you’re an early bird, first thing in the morning works. If not, the last few hours of sunlight are best. These times have the best sunlight for portraits. However, any time of the day can be done.

What should I bring with me to my session?

Clothes, accessories, hair brush and make up for touch ups, a small hand towel and water (for sweating in this Houston heat!) and your best smile!

I’ve seen some photos from a friend or on social media that I like, can we try those?

YES, we would love to work with you on creating photos that you will love, even if that’s using something you’ve seen before. We won’t tell anyone. You could share a Pinterest board with me also!

When can I see my photos?

Typically within a day, one sneak peak photo will be shown on my Facebook and Instagram pages. From there, I will work on sending you proofs in an online gallery to make your final editing selections.

Can I order prints from you as well?

YES, you have two options: Letting me know directly OR by ordering directly off of your final personal online gallery

What is my personal online gallery?

It’s on my website and it will be a board of all your photos. From this gallery, you can download your final jpeg images. You can share the gallery with friends and family to view, and you can make purchases from the gallery also.

Can I share my images on my social media?

Of course! We ask that you not alter the image at all, by modifying color or look with filters or by cropping. We also would LOVE IT if you tagged us in your posts!
